Phonetic Composition uses spectral analysis, phonetics, and phonology as a basis for constructing musical compositions. Initial research into phonetic-based composing began in 2012 during my masters studies at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas USA. While some experimentation into music composition based on speech sounds has been pursued by previous composers and sound artists for generations, the processes and methods used in Phonetic Composition are unique.
